Jumbo and the NEW Designer Velvet padded rails have 1 1/2" of high density foam on the top as compared to the 3/4" on the regular padded rails, so if you often sit on the side of your waterbed, the Jumbos and Designer velvets are a better, more comfortable choice; plus Jumbos extend about 4" down the wood side rails and Designers 6" giving your waterbed a more sophisticated, upholstered look. -
Vinyl is cool to the touch when your bedroom is cool; sometimes awakening the sleeper upon touch. -
Vinyl “grabs” bare skin as it passes over the rail, therefore, the fabrics and velvets tend to be the most popular choices for experienced waterbed folks. -
The most popular color choices are Sand and Black Velvet because they are the easiest to decorate around, but there are plenty of choices; so go for it and have fun! Don't look for that cheap PVC in our Premium padded rails. Our Premium padded rails are made of all wood products designed to last for years and years! We used to make them this way and then jumped on the PVC bandwagon like almost everybody else to compete but couldn't put up with the breaking and warping of the plastic that typically occurs so we have gone back to the all wood construction. They cost a little more, they are heavier to ship (shipping is FREE to you) but the small difference in price is well worth it. All our padded rails slip on in seconds, tightly grip the frame, even over the liner to enhance the appearance and functionality of your waterbed liner. No tools are necessary. It is important that you choose the proper size because they are manufactured to order and, therefore, are non-returnable except in the rare case of a manufacturer’s defect. Because of this, they take about three weeks for delivery to your home. Since most wood frame waterbed side rails are 1 1/2” wide, that is the default thickness and they are 81" long.
